Job Description:
LUMAC Tanzania, a leading premium windows and balustrades company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join its Finance Department. The company serves residential, commercial, and institutional clients across Tanzania and is committed to delivering high-quality building materials.
The Accountant will play a central role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring tax compliance, and supporting management with reliable financial reports. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-growing business environment.
Responsibilities:
Financial Records & Bookkeeping:
- Record and verify daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, and journals
- Maintain organized and audit-ready accounting documentation
- Manage fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and inventory records
- Reconcile petty cash and ensure accurate accounting entries
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor company cash flow and report irregularities
- Maintain communication with banks on transactions and account issues
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process supplier payments and maintain creditor schedules
- Issue and track client invoices to ensure timely collections
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable with general ledger
- Prepare ageing reports for debtors and creditors
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Obligations:
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws (VAT, PAYE, WHT, corporate tax)
- Prepare and submit tax returns to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA)
- Verify tax accuracy on invoices and maintain compliant documentation
- Stay updated on tax regulations and advise management
Financial Reporting & Management Accounts:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Develop income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements with auditors
Audit Support & Internal Controls:
- Support external audits and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes
- Conduct internal checks on cash, inventory, and records
Payroll & Staff Financial Administration:
- Process payroll and statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, HELSB)
- Maintain payroll records and staff financial data
- Handle staff claims, advances, and reimbursements
Accounting Systems & Operational Support:
- Manage accounting software and ensure data accuracy
- Develop Excel-based financial tools and reports
- Provide financial guidance to internal departments

Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
- Professional certification (CPA (T), ACCA, CMA) is an added advantage
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of practical accounting experience
- Experience in trading, manufacturing, construction, or import/export businesses preferred
- Experience in tax compliance, audits, and statutory reporting in Tanzania
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally – QuickBooks preferred)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial models)
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations and GAAP
- Experience with bank reconciliation, cash management, and reporting
