Job Description
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading agricultural research organization working across sub-Saharan Africa to improve food security, nutrition, livelihoods, and sustainable natural resource management. As part of its ICT operations, IITA is recruiting an IT Support Assistant to support its Eastern Africa Hub Office in Dar es Salaam.
The IT Support Assistant will provide technical support for hardware, software, networks, IT systems, and end-user services, ensuring smooth and secure ICT operations within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for hardware and software systems
- Assist users with IT-related troubleshooting and service requests
- Support installation and maintenance of IT equipment and systems
- Maintain and monitor LAN/WLAN networks (fibre, satellite, radio, internet)
- Manage backups and ensure system data integrity
- Support cybersecurity, antivirus, and network protection systems
- Assist in CCTV installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Provide IT support for meetings, workshops, and virtual conferencing
- Maintain IT inventory records (hardware and software)
- Collaborate with internal and external IT service providers
- Implement IT policies, procedures, and standards
- Perform other IT-related duties as assigned

Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support or technical assistance
- Experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networks
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems and office applications
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Teamwork and independent working ability
