Job Description

Amref Health Africa – Tanzania, an international NGO focused on improving health systems and community health, is seeking a Project Officer – Cardio-Metabolic Diseases (CMD) for the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) project.

This role supports the implementation of a health education strengthening program funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The Project Officer will focus on improving the quality of health professional education, curriculum development, digital learning approaches, and capacity building in cardio-metabolic disease prevention and care.

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation & Coordination

Provide technical support for curriculum review and development under the PEP project
Support day-to-day implementation of project activities based on approved scope and budget
Coordinate with partner institutions, government bodies, and stakeholders
Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and curriculum review meetings
Maintain detailed records of project activities and deliverables
Support regulatory, institutional, and ethical approvals for training protocols
Review and develop curricula and regulatory tools to address gaps
Coordinate data collection for training and capacity needs assessments
Support dissemination of project results through forums, conferences, and journals
Facilitate establishment of Centers of Excellence for CMD education and research

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

Develop systems to track project progress and results
Support data collection and reporting under M&E framework
Conduct monthly and quarterly project review meetings
Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation of lessons learned

Coordinate semi-annual steering committee meetings

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

Liaise with education authorities, institutions, and partners

Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Education, Medicine, Nursing, or related field
Master’s degree in nursing, health education, project management, monitoring & evaluation, or related field
At least two publications in peer-reviewed journals (minimum one as first author)
3–5 years of experience in education program implementation, project management, or curriculum review
Minimum 2 years teaching experience in mid-level health colleges or higher learning institutions
Experience with government institutions, universities, or donor-funded projects
Knowledge of education systems, policy frameworks, OBL, eLearning platforms, and curriculum development
Strong project management and coordination skills
Excellent communication, analytical, and report writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools
Commitment to gender equity, inclusiveness, and sustainability
