Job Description / Electrical Engineer

Dangote Industries Limited is hiring an Electrical Engineer for its Mtwara Plant in Tanzania. This role focuses on installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of electrical equipment to support reliable plant performance.

The Electrical Engineer will handle low, medium, and high voltage systems while ensuring safety compliance, reducing downtime, and supporting preventive maintenance activities. Key Responsibilities

Install, test, operate, and maintain electrical equipment with quality and safety standards
Ensure trouble-free operation of assigned plant area for optimal equipment availability
Manage spare parts for smooth plant operations
Provide maintenance support to reduce equipment downtime
Implement preventive maintenance schedules

Daily Operations & Technical Support

Assign daily tasks and provide technical guidance to subordinates
Ensure safety compliance in the work area
Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned area
Execute maintenance of circuit breakers, transformers, MCC, PCC, MV & LV switchboards, battery chargers, plant lighting/earthing systems, HT/LT motors, VFDs, cables, and terminations
Complete work orders on time with quality standards
Maintain maintenance records including power reports, checklists, and equipment history

Reporting & Systems Management

Update maintenance data in SAP system
Prepare PRs, notifications, and work orders in SAP
Issue materials from stores and communicate spare requirements
Prepare technical reports and documentation

Training & Development

Train subordinate staff on technical and safety procedures

Additional Duties

Perform other duties assigned by senior engineers or department heads

Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 4 years work experience in an industrial or plant environment
Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage systems (MCC, PCC, MV & LV switchboards)
Experience with HT/LT motors, transformers, substations, generators, and cable systems
Understanding of electrical testing and measuring equipment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and principles
Strong incident analysis skills
Good knowledge of electrical safety regulations and standards
Proficiency in SAP system usage
Strong teamwork and coordination skills
Innovation and problem-solving ability
