Job Description:
Panthera Corporation is hiring a Resource Protection Support professional to lead conservation and wildlife protection efforts in western Tanzania. This role is ideal for candidates seeking NGO jobs in Tanzania, particularly in the wildlife conservation and natural resource management sector.
Panthera is a global organization dedicated to conserving wild cat species and their ecosystems. The selected candidate will oversee the implementation of resource protection, anti-poaching operations, and conservation support in collaboration with the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) and other partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Resource Protection & Operations
- Lead and oversee resource protection support activities across Panthera operational sites
- Collaborate with TAWA to identify and prioritize conservation and protection needs
- Coordinate logistics and financial support, including procurement of equipment and resources
- Develop and implement protection strategies, SOPs, and operational procedures
- Support management and coordination of Village Game Scouts (VGSs)
- Assist in ranger training, mentorship, and capacity-building programs
Collaboration & Data Management
- Work with Panthera regional and global teams on conservation strategies
- Utilize SMART data and other tools to inform protection decision-making
- Support threat assessments and evaluate conservation impact
- Facilitate coordination among conservation partners and stakeholders
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare operational, logistics, and financial reports
- Track expenditures and manage resource allocation
- Maintain accurate records and safeguard organizational assets
- Represent Panthera in meetings with stakeholders and partners
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Conservation Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in resource protection within NGOs or government organizations
- At least 3 years in a management role
- Experience working in protected areas and remote field locations
- Strong understanding of law enforcement practices and conservation policies
- Experience working with local communities is an added advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
- Strong organizational, reporting, and budgeting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
