Job Description:
VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank, under World Vision, is recruiting a skilled Senior Credit Analyst to strengthen credit risk management and loan portfolio performance. With over 75 years of global experience, World Vision focuses on improving the lives of vulnerable children and communities.
The Senior Credit Analyst plays a key role in making informed credit decisions, supervising credit analysts, and ensuring high-quality loan origination and structuring. This position supports the Credit Manager in maintaining compliance, improving turnaround time, and enhancing credit policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Credit Underwriting and Approval:
- Lead complex credit assessments for high-value and high-risk loan facilities
- Analyze financial statements, cash flows, business models, and sector risks
- Review and approve credit proposals above analyst limits
- Structure loan facilities to minimize risk and meet policy requirements
Portfolio Risk Management and Monitoring:
- Monitor loan portfolio performance across sectors and branches
- Track key risk indicators such as PAR trends and early warning signals
- Identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions
- Integrate environmental and social risk considerations into assessments
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Conduct quality reviews of credit appraisals for accuracy and compliance
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and credit files
- Support internal and external audits and resolve findings
- Detect and escalate potential fraud or suspicious activities
Workflow Supervision and Operational Efficiency:
- Supervise Credit Analysts to meet turnaround time targets
- Ensure loan disbursement readiness and compliance with conditions
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve efficiency
Team Leadership and Capacity Building:
- Mentor and train Credit Analysts through coaching and case reviews
- Identify skill gaps and implement development plans
- Support training for branch managers and credit officers
Reporting and Committee Support:
- Prepare portfolio performance reports (monthly and quarterly)
- Provide insights for Credit and Portfolio Performance Committees
- Report irregularities or misconduct to senior management
Policy and Process Improvement:
- Improve credit policies, tools, and appraisal templates
- Recommend updates based on portfolio trends and field insights
Credit Bureau and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting
- Maintain compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BOT) requirements
- Resolve customer disputes effectively
Documentation and Quality Checks:
- Ensure proper loan documentation and collateral records
- Conduct post-disbursement reviews and credit quality checks
- Analyze causes of non-performing loans (NPLs) and recommend solutions

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification in accounting or credit underwriting is an added advantage
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in credit risk, financial analysis, and portfolio management
- Strong knowledge of loan structuring, restructuring, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with credit risk monitoring and reporting systems
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong understanding of credit policies, procedures, and risk frameworks
