Key Responsibilities

Safety Management Systems

• Assist in implementing Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems at North Mara Mine
• Support implementation of ISO 45001:2018 standards
• Maintain and support Barrick Safety and Health Management System elements
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and applicable legislation

Risk Management and Inspections

• Facilitate risk assessments including Baseline Risk Assessment, JHA, and FLRA
• Conduct regular safety inspections across mine site and contractor areas
• Monitor equipment safety systems including pre-start checks and fault reporting
• Promote risk management culture across operations

Incident Investigation and Reporting

• Assist in accident and incident investigations with supervisors
• Facilitate investigations using approved methodologies
• Ensure timely follow-up and closure of corrective actions
• Prepare safety statistics (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual)
• Provide daily, monthly, and trend analysis reports

Training and Safety Promotion

• Develop safety training materials and programs
• Facilitate safety training for employees and contractors
• Conduct safety observations and provide coaching on PPE compliance
• Promote teamwork and proactive safety practices

Coordination and Communication

• Liaise with departments, contractors, and safety personnel
• Attend departmental safety meetings as required
• Maintain communication with leadership on safety performance
• Ensure clear reporting and documentation of safety activities

Requirements / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
• NOSHC Certificate or NEBOSH Certificate required
• Certificate III/IV in Occupational Health and Safety
• Minimum 3 years mining industry experience (preferably process plant)
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 and safety management systems
• Experience in incident and accident investigation
• Valid Tanzania driving license with driving competency
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong communication skills in English and Kiswahili
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Strong leadership, accountability, and influencing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• ERT membership is an added advantage
